I had the incredible honor of sitting down with one of Team La Gloria Cubana’s varsity players, Ricky Rodriguez. Responsible for the superb dual-wrapped Artesanos de Tabaqueros, Ricky has all the makings of becoming a cigar legend and has already proven you don’t need a popular family name to make fantastic smokes. Here is another new cigar straight out of IPCPR. I think this cigar should hit the shelves very soon (October).

Wrapper: Capa Oscura. This cigar is black as dirt! Deep dark Black!
Filler: Nicaraguan “proprietary”. They won’t tell where from even when we asked!
Binder: Nicaraguan “proprietary”. Once again, not too much info on it.
Country: Dominican Republic
Factory: El Credito Cigar Factory in the Dominican Republic

Finish time: 9:50pm
Drink: Cold water

First looks, this cigar is probly the darkest maduro I have ever smoked or possibly seen! Its dirt, oil, tar,midnight BLACK. The band is your typical LGC band, except the Serie N and the big “N” behind the woman on the band; if you look too fast you will miss it. To read more click here.

I’m not sure what they put in the water over there at La Gloria Cubana but let me just say, they are on FIRE this year! Still rolling with the success of their Serie R and Artesanos line, look for my article on the amazing La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco, they released samples of La Gloria Cubana Serie N last week at ICPCR. And there’s only one word that can describe it. Wow.

The aesthetics of the box is immediately enticing. It’s packaged in a very interesting bright-red, hexagonal, wooden box with the beautiful gold “Serie N” logo. Upon opening, you’ll notice the arrangement of the 24 cigars in a quirky angular configuration. To read more click here.

They say “third time’s a charm.” Luckily for La Gloria Cubana, Artesanos de Obelisco, the third installment in the Artesanos collection, is no exception.This cigar embodies everything a memorable smoke requires: Quality, innovation, and perhaps the most underestimated ingredient of them all- inspiration. Researching the Artesanos de Obelisco, I literally got chills. I cherish the tradition of this culture and because I’m involved in the business side as much as the pleasure, I am often times disappointed in how a company’s quest for a dollar can sometimes ruin the authenticity of a new blend. A few weeks ago La Joya de Nicaragua’s Cabinetta surprised me by demonstrating that not all dual-wrapper cigars are trumped-up fashion plates.
